When Prayers Go Unanswered.

When it comes to prayer:

Have you ever felt like your prayers aren’t being heard by God?

Do you feel like you pray and don’t see any results?

Have you ever read scriptures like, “whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24) only to still lack the things you’re believing for?

I have. I can relate to all of those scenarios. It can be frustrating, and it can feel like either your faith is lacking or God isn’t listening. Perhaps the reason our prayers aren’t being answered are for neither of these reasons? Perhaps it’s something completely different? Maybe it’s something we have never considered?

Let’s continue to read what Jesus says in this passage... “and whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25)

Maybe the biggest blockage in our prayer life isn’t our lack of faith or God’s indifference. Maybe the biggest hindrance to our prayers being answered is our unforgiveness toward others?

Next time you pray start by pausing and asking God to search your heart and reveal where unforgiveness is lurking. Ask that He would help you release forgiveness to that person or situation so that you can bring your requests before Him will a clear heart. Perhaps this is the key to seeing God move powerfully through our prayers?

Psalm 51:10“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
